Synopsis
Sierra is a deep journey into the heart of the mountains, where time is measured in mule hours, infinite distances, and the memory of its inhabitants. In this microcosm forged by isolation and nature, every trade, every gesture, and every silence becomes a form of resistance and belonging.
In Vallecito, the most remote corner of the Elizondo Range, lives Ladislao Reyes Chávez, a herder and popular poet who has dedicated his life to writing more than eight hundred poems in notebooks he keeps as his greatest treasure. After publishing his first book, Trovador Vallisto, in 2018, Reyes dreams of editing a second work that preserves the voice and memory of his people. This longing finds an unexpected ally in the students and teachers of the boarding school, who help him digitize his manuscripts, weaving a bridge between tradition and the future.
In parallel, the mountains face the arrival of the Camino de los Sueños, inaugurated in 2022. A project that promised integration and development, but that also opened new tensions in the community: what is gained and what is lost when "progress" reaches a territory where life has been sustained for centuries with its own rules?
With majestic images and the cadence of poetic language, Sierra portrays the harshness and beauty of a world in transformation, and raises questions that resonate beyond the mountains: Will Reyes fulfill the dream of seeing his poems published? Will the road be a bridge to the future or a threat to the identity of the mountain people?
